Songs & Library

Your song library is shared with your entire band. Any member can add, edit, or delete songs.

Song Fields

Field	Description
Title & Artist	The song name and original artist
Key	Musical key (e.g., C, Am, F#m)
Tempo	BPM for click tracks, MIDI clock, and reference
Duration	Song length in seconds — used for setlist timing
Time Signature	4/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc.
Lead Vocal	Who sings lead on this song
PA Notes	Notes for your sound engineer (visible in the Soundman View)
Tags	Categorize songs (e.g., “ballad”, “opener”, “80s”)
Media URL	Link to a reference recording (Spotify, YouTube, etc.)
Notes	General notes visible to all band members
Click Track	Enable a metronome at the song’s tempo for live performance

Song Content

Each song has a content editor where you write chord sheets and lyrics together using bracket notation:

Chords render above the lyrics at the correct position. See Chord Sheets & Transpose for formatting details.

Songs can also have:

• Chart versions — Name more than one version of a song’s chart (Band plus alternates); each member follows the version they want and co-edits it live. See Chord Sheets
• Lead sheets — Named PDF or image parts (sheet music, handwritten charts), one per instrument
• MIDI clips — .mid files that play back on song selection
• Backing tracks — Audio files that play during performance
• Song steps — Divide the song into sections (verse, chorus, bridge) with per-step MIDI, tempo, and automation
• Reference media — Link Apple Music or YouTube tracks directly from the song editor and play them inline for rehearsal reference

View Modes

The song library supports three view modes:

• List — Full details with metadata badges
• Compact — Minimal single-line rows
• Cards — Grid layout with visual cards

Switch between modes using the view toggle in the top-right corner.

Searching & Filtering

Use the search bar to find songs by title or artist. You can also filter by tags to quickly find songs in specific categories.

Quick open (Cmd/Ctrl+K) lets you jump to any song from anywhere in the app.

Duplicate Detection

Gigmeister can scan your library for potential duplicate songs. When duplicates are found, you can merge them or mark pairs as “not duplicates” to skip them in future scans.

Song Enrichment

Speed up song entry by letting Gigmeister fill in the metadata for you. Open a song, tap Enrich, and the app pulls in metadata, lyrics, and reference media from public sources:

• Metadata — Key, tempo, time signature, duration via MusicBrainz
• Lyrics — Time-synced lyrics from LRCLIB when available, plain lyrics otherwise
• Reference media — YouTube fallback to attach a reference recording

You can enrich a single song or bulk-enrich a selection from the song library. Existing fields are preserved unless you opt to overwrite them.

Multitrack Recordings

Attach multitrack recordings to songs — multi-stem rehearsal recordings with per-track volume, pan, mute, and solo controls. View all recordings for a song from the song detail page.

Each song also carries a Takes & References list — links, uploaded files, and takes promoted from board mixes, with one marked as the band’s preferred take.

Import Songs

Import songs from BandHelper, CSV, or tab-separated files:

1. Tap Import in the Songs tab
2. Upload your file
3. Map columns to Gigmeister fields
4. Review the preview and resolve any duplicates
5. Confirm the import

Caution

Duplicate detection runs automatically during import to prevent creating duplicate songs.

Personal Song Settings

Some song settings are personal to each band member and don’t affect what others see:

• Transpose — Shift chords up or down for your instrument
• Personal notes — Your own annotations (keyboard voicings, cues, reminders)
• Followed chart version — Which named version of the chart you view and edit (see Chart Versions)
• Lead sheet part — Which named lead sheet part you view (see Lead Sheets)
• Display options — Enabled content types, columns, and font size (set in Settings → Appearance and the Content Display sheet)

Deleting Songs

Deleting a song moves it to the Bin rather than permanently removing it immediately. Songs in the bin remain recoverable for 30 days, then are automatically purged along with any attached files (lead sheets, MIDI clips, backing tracks).

Restoring a Song

1. Go to Settings > Bin
2. Find the song you want to recover
3. Tap Restore

Permanently Deleting

To permanently delete before the 30-day window, open the Bin and tap Delete on individual items, or Empty Bin to clear everything at once.

Caution

Permanent deletion cannot be undone. All attached files (lead sheets, MIDI clips, backing tracks) are also deleted from cloud storage.
